Chapter Report Trent E. Roach

(June 17, 2008, Harrisburg, PA) On March 15, 2008, seven talented youth from the Harrisburg Metropolitan Area competed for this year’s top honors and an opportunity to represent Kappa Omega at the 2nd District Talent Showcase Competition held in Atlantic City, NJ.

Performing artists rendered their talents under Dance, Contemporary Vocal, Classical Instrumental and Visual Arts.  After careful consideration by the esteemed panel of judges, judged to represent Kappa Omega at the 2008 2nd District Talent Showcase Program was Ms. Tielah Williams.  Her selection marks an unprecedented third consecutive year chosen as Kappa Omega’s top finalist to compete at the 2nd District’s Talent Showcase competition.

As in previous year performances, Ms. Williams choose the Classical Instrumental category, performing selections played on the Violin.  Those attending this years contest were mesmerized by the sounds created through Ms. Williams’ solo playing.  She clearly possesses a talent worthy of display and she will well represent Kappa Omega in Atlantic City.

Ms. William is a senior attending Harrisburg Academy High School.  She is the recipient of a full four-year scholarship to Bryn Maher University planning to major in Music and Interpretive Writing.

On May 3, 2008, the hottest shows in Atlantic City were held at the luxurious Sheraton Hotel and Convention Center.  There, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. 2nd District Talent Showcase Program introduced talented youth from chapters throughout the district.  Twenty-one (21) contestants competed in various categories with aspiration of winning their respective performance category and ultimately crowned the 2nd District’s grand prizewinner.  Performing with the grace and confidence of a seasoned violinist, Tielah dazzled the audience.  Her performance earned her a second place finish in her respective category.  The Brothers of Kappa Omega are extremely proud and honored to have had Ms. Williams represent them and the Greater Harrisburg area over the past three years and wish her continued success as she matriculates to Bryn Maher University in the fall of 2008.
